Introduction

Assemble and install rigging gear to lift, lower and position equipment or material in the manufacturing plant and shafts. Conduct legal inspections as per MHSA and Regulations on lifting equipment and Winders. Operate the mobile cranes.

Job description

  • Expedite rigging according to situation's demand and can include de-mantling of equipment; replacement of new parts or components or machines.
  • Complete daily inspection checklists for tools, lifting equipment, winder ropes and –attachments, mobile cranes and work areas.
  • Report problems and make recommendations to Supervisors.
  • Perform asset care activities as required to EAMS system including accurate and timeous feedback and documentation to all stakeholders.
  • Obtain information, check for accuracy and capture data. File documents per procedure.
  • Comply with disciplinary and behavioral rules and procedures.
  • Conduct risk assessment in own area of work and within span of control.
  • Comply with safety, health and environmental standards. Identify and report unsafe and hazardous situations in work area. Participate in safety meetings.
  • Comply with Quality standards and deliver in a manner that support and meet operational quality standards.

 

Minimum requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Certificate: Grade 12 (Required)
  • Certificate: Trade Test Rigger / Ropesmen (Required)
  • Mobile Crane License (Required)
  • Valid Code EC Drivers Licence (Required)
  • Symbol A Dover (Required)

EXPERIENCE AND REQUIREMENTS

  • 3 Years’ Post apprenticeship Rigger / Ropesmen in heavy industrial, mining or plant environment.
  • 2 Years’ Experience in Winder Ropes
  • 1 Year Shaft work and slinging of material
