Position Summary
Introduction
The role of a Mine Manager is high-impact leadership role, ensuring the safe, quality production is delivered from the mine. This position requires a blend of technical expertise, leadership skills, and a deep understanding of mining processes. The Mine Manager is responsible to ensure alignment with business objectives, drive performance across safety, production, compliance and workforce development.
Job description
• Change management and relationship building.
• Combine technical expertise with strategic insight to drive profitability and long-term sustainability.
• Use data-driven insight and financial metrics to guide strategic decisions that optimise performance across the entire value chain.
• Conduct risk assessments and ensure emergency preparedness.
• Lead incident investigations and corrective actions.
• Develop and execute production targets aligned with the business plan.
• Optimise mining processes and contractor performance.
• Oversee equipment maintenance and resource allocation.
• Contribute to functional budget planning and cost control.
• Analyse trends and implement remedial actions.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Represent the operation at forums and manage expectations professionally.
• Drive recruitment, training and performance management.
• Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture.
• Identify and close training and performance gaps through coaching and development.
• Ensure data integrity and accurate reporting.
• Conduct trend analysis and support business intelligence initiatives.
• Address and resolve conflicts promptly and manage expectations professionally.
Minimum requirements
• BTech: Mining Engineering NQF Level 7 (Required)
• Blasting Ticket (Required)
• Mine Overseer’s Certificate of Competency (Required)
• Mine Manager’s Certificate of Competency (Required)
• Drivers’ License: Code B (required)
• 5 Years ‘Middle or Senior Management experience (Mine Overseer/Mine Manager)
