Introduction

This is a critical leadership role, responsible for the full operational and strategic management of our mining activities, with a strong focus on safety, compliance, production, efficiency, labour, quality, reporting, and profitability.

Job description

•    Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
•    Deep understanding of mining legislation, safety standards, and operational best practices.
•    Proven track record in managing large-scale underground hard rock mining operations, including development and production.
•    Strategic thinker with hands-on approach.
•    Passion for operation excellence
•    Lead strategic production planning to ensure optimal ore extraction aligned with operational targets and business objectives.
•    Drive underground mining operations with full accountability for safe, efficient, and cost-effective production delivery.
•    Manage resources and workforce to maximise productivity through effective allocation of labour, equipment, and materials. 
•    Oversee contractor performance and stakeholder engagement to ensure alignment with safety, quality, and output standards. 
•    Champion process optimisation by identifying inefficiencies and implementing solutions that enhance operational performance. 
•    Ensure equipment reliability through proactive maintenance planning and coordination to minimise downtime and safety risks. 
•    Lead change and innovation by driving transformation initiatives and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. 
•    Maintain regulatory compliance and mitigate operational risks through robust safety, legal, and environmental oversight. 
•    Leverage data and analytics to guide strategic decisions, monitor trends, and improve production outcomes.
•    Develop and retain talent through focused coaching, succession planning, and performance management to build a high-performing team.

Minimum requirements

•    B. Tech Mining Engineering NQF Level 7 (Required)
•    Valid Mine Manager’s Certificate of Competency (Required
•    Senior Leadership Programme (MBA/MDP) NQF Level 8  (Recommended)
•    Minimum of 10 Years’ Underground hard rock mining management and operations. 
•    Minimum of 5 Years Middle or Senior Management.
