Position Summary
Introduction
Manage the provision of an analytical service to geology, mining, plant, logistics, ore control and external customers.
Job description
• Optimise the core operational internal processes and internal supply chain and resolve operational conflicts.
• Provide input into functional planning. Interpret functional plan and develop sub-functional plans.
• Plan, direct and assess Quality Management within sub-function and recommend remedial actions where necessary to ensure adherence to TQM principles.
• Manage, evaluate and measure performance of analytical processes. Conduct process investigations and make recommendations for sustainability and improvements.
• Ensure operational plan is implemented.
• Implement compliance requirements. Communicate compliance changes.
• Plan, implement, control and monitor approved changes to area of responsibility to respond to changes in the industry, legislation, and other related matters including transformation and optimisation. Assist with workplace readiness assessment.
• Promote and assure adherence to safety, health and environmental procedures. Identify unsafe and hazardous situations. Diagnose incidents and accidents by completing root cause analyses and take corrective action. Conduct risk assessments. Stop work in unsafe areas. Ensure safety programs are executed.
• Identify recurring problems and derive creative solutions involving team members. Recognise and reward team member efforts.
• Ensure to manage team performance and evaluate the team’s day to day performance and tasks.
• Ensure to report on all deviations or any analytical issues to all relevant stakeholders. Ensure to report monthly on analytical statistics of the laboratory to the Technical Services Manager.
• Ensure that equipment is performing to required standards in the laboratory.
Minimum requirements
• B-Tech Analytical Chemistry (Required)
• Bachelor of Science Analytical Chemistry Honours (Alternative)
• 2 Years Operational Management Experience
