Draughtsperson Mine Surveying
Position Summary
Introduction
Prepare survey plans of mining operations. Perform the optimisation and flow of graphical data and technical information in MRM and other mining departments, i.e. Exploration, geology, sampling, survey, rock engineering, ventilation, planning, mining, tramming, processing, reporting and corporate.
Job description
• Comply with safety, health and environmental standards. Identify and report unsafe and hazardous situations in work area. Participate in safety meetings.
• Comply with Quality standards and deliver in a manner that support and meet operational quality standards.
• Contribute to team performance.
• Participate in planning process for section. Execute plans within standard.
• Complete, update and maintain survey plans and other relevant legal admin to ensure compliance.
• Propose ideas or practical improvements relevant to tasks. Participate in improvement initiatives.
• Draw Surface, General, Rehabilitation mine plans and related infrastructure showing surface contours and related detail. Provide accurate up to date survey reporting plans according to mine regulations, including Underground mine plans, Water plan, according to the water act.
• Coordinate Grid System. Centralise file structures according to Survey workings, Geological features, Ventilation information, Rock Engineering, Engineering features.
• Capture surface information regarding farm boundaries and names; traffic management, area of responsibility; infrastructure; adjacent mine boundaries; surface beacons; surface water features; environmental features, stock piles and slime dams.
• Capture and plot underground workings. Differentiate between off-reef and on-reef. Plot survey pegs. Check survey networks, tramming systems, traffic management, and areas of responsibility.
• Plot and update surface and underground bore holes and sample results with data. Plot all geological features such as faults, dykes and joints, etc. Geological mapping on correct depth plane and prepare structural model for geological valuation purposes.
• Generate ventilation plans indicating escape routes, fire escapes and all related features.
• Plot quarterly planning monthly and assist with the layout of life of mine plan, including annotation of workplace names and dates. Re-design mine layout where applicable.
• Create and update safety pillar plan monthly and seam middling plan.
• Create and update legal plans as per DMR
Minimum requirements
• Certificate: Advanced Mine Surveying Draughting (MQA). (Required)
• National Diploma: Mine Surveying (Recommended)
