Position Summary
Introduction
Supervise a work team in executing all work required to extract ore from a specific work area safely, economically and productively.
Job description

• Conduct entry examination and declare area safe of the workplace, cleaning of faces, support marking, support installation, Face Marking, Face drilling and charging up of faces with explosive.
• Complete safe declaration for every working area.
• Instruct and supervise Support Worker Roof and Face Prep to perform barring operation in preparing the face and to make safe.
• Verify explosives and accessories received from magazine to ensure accurate accounting of explosives. Transport in accordance with safety standards to dedicated Primer Bays.
• Prepare primers in dedicated Primer Bays according to blasting requirements.
• Conduct general housekeeping.
• Supervisor to achieve daily production plan.
• Report and rectify any deviations identified in own area.
• Record non-conformances and actions required.
• Escalate problems to the Shift Boss and/or Production Control.
• Ensure section is clear by conducting an inspection of the area and instruct employees / contractors to vacate the area.
• At end of shift, compile shift report (using standard template) including no blast situations
Minimum requirements
• Blasting certificate / MQA Rock Breaking Certificate (issued 1 Jul 2009 – 31 May 2017) (Required)
• Driver’s license: Code B/EB (Required)
• Dover B symbol (Required)
• Valid First Aid Certificate (Required)
• Qualification Condonement will apply to internal - NC Assmang employees
