Introduction

ASSMANG Pty Ltd requires the services of Diesel Mechanic at their Black Rock Mine Operations situated 80km North-West of Kuruman in the Northern Cape. The closing date for applications will be Wednesday, 17 December 2025.

Job description

Maintain, diagnose, identify and repair diesel machines.

Minimum requirements

  • Certificate: Grade 12 (Required)
  • Certificate: N2 with Trade Test Diesel Mechanic (Required).
  • Driver’s License: Code B/EB (Required).
  • Dover B symbol (Required).
  • Qualification Condonement will apply to internal – NC Assmang employees

Experience and Requirements:

  • 3 Years post apprenticeship as a Diesel Mechanic in heavy industrial, mining or plant environment.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Perform asset care activities as required to EAMS system including accurate and timeous feedback and documentation to all stakeholders.
  • Obtain information, check for accuracy and capture data. File documents per procedure.
  • Comply with disciplinary and behavioural rules and procedures.
  • Conduct risk assessment in own area of work and within span of control.
  • Know and exercise the basic principles of safety and mining. Comply with safety, health and environmental standards. Identify and report unsafe and hazardous situations in work area. Participate in safety meetings. Take care of your own safety and the safety of fellow employees.
  • Comply with Quality standards and deliver in a manner that support and meet operational quality standards.
  • Contribute to team performance.
  • Complete daily inspection checklists for tools, equipment and work areas. Report problems and make recommendations to Supervisors.
  • Maintain workshop and assets namely work areas, equipment, tools and toolbox. Perform instructions as per work orders and job cards. Cleaning and lubricating bearings and other moving parts. Fits, maintains, services and repairs the mechanical equipment.
  • Maintain, install, do diagnostics and repair mechanical equipment and vehicles per planned maintenance and break down work orders. Consider the direct risks of the environment.
  • Participate in change initiatives and provide feedback on resistance.
  • Propose ideas or practical improvements relevant to tasks. Participate in improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in planning process for section. Execute plans within standard.
