Introduction

ASSMANG Pty Ltd requires the services of Senior Surveyor at their Black Rock Mine Operations situated 80km North-West of Kuruman in the Northern Cape To coordinate, supervise and control survey initiatives by allocating survey activities, verifying survey information, analysing plans and conduct quality assurance on the data and the work of team members in order to ensure that all underground and surface surveys of the mine are maintained within the limits prescribed by the law. To contribute towards functional performance by managing resources such as people, organisational systems, equipment and tools to ensure functional activities in order to deliver optimal results to stakeholders.

Job description

 

  • Conduct surface surveys on infrastructure such as dumps; stockpiles and other features on surface, perform surface subsidence monitoring to ensure alignment to stakeholder requirements.
  • Monitor survey activities through reconciling surface work, monitoring stock movement and issuing technical instructions to ensure that short- and long-term risks are identified and managed accordingly
  • Develop strong working relationships with the mining operations, engineering and various other stakeholders in order to drive optimal service delivery.
  • Coordinate survey activities by monitoring and evaluating the quality of survey work in order ensure conformance with specifications and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform detailed stake out operations including the installation of survey pegs and grades, collating and inputting measurement data into the survey systems.
  • Support stakeholders across the mine by scheduling and reviewing the calculation of survey work and applying technical knowledge in plotting of the plans.
  • Measure and quantify surface and underground production. Visualise and conceptualise 3D drawings and layouts.
  • Conduct surveys and check levels in order to ascertain the accuracy of jobs done by the team members.
  • Reviewing reports and outputs for accuracy, reconciling tonnage and ore reserves, analysing survey sample data, plotting survey pegs and checking of compliance to plan and underground advancement reporting categories.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives by planning, implementing, controlling and monitoring approved changes within the area in order to respond to changes in the industry best practice, legislation and other related matters including transformation and optimisation
  • Deliver on quality data management by receiving information, verifying and checking the accuracy of the data to ensure that all information is relevant and up to date.
  • Monitor the integrity of the survey data and information by reviewing survey and gyro survey to ensure that all survey data is fit for purpose and ultimately stored in line with regulatory requirements.
  • Review and provide Survey measurement data by performing surface and underground reconciliations and preparing survey layout drawings in order to provide suitable information into mine planning
  • Maintain all underground and surface surveys within the limits of error as prescribed by the regulations.
  • Ensure adherence to statutory requirements by way of conducting risk assessments in order to minimise unfavourable incidents.
  • Develop medium- or long-term work schedules that enable the organisation to achieve its business goals. Involves coordinating across multiple teams

Minimum requirements

  • Certificate: Grade 12 (Required)
  • Advanced Mine Surveying Certificate ( Required)
  • Advanced Mine Valuation Certificate (Recommended)
  •  National Diploma Mine / Minerals Surveying or NQF Level 6 equivalent in Mine Surveying (Recommended)
  •  Bachelor of Technology Mineral Resource Management(Recommended)
  •   Valid Driver’s License: Code B / EB
  •  4 Mine Surveying experience in underground  mining environment
  • 1 year Survey Office Supervisory
