Fitter Shaft and Winders
Position Summary
Introduction
ASSMANG Pty Ltd requires the services of an experienced Fitter Shaft and Winder - C2 at their Black Rock Mine Operations situated 80km North-West of Kuruman in the Northern Cape. As a Fitter specializing in shaft and winder operations, you’ll be responsible for the preparation, operation, and upkeep of critical production equipment. Your role will include maintaining and repairing mechanical and hydraulic systems to ensure optimal functionality and safety. You’ll also carry out daily and weekly inspections on winders in strict accordance with the Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA) and relevant regulatory standards.
Job description
- Hands-on fitting, fault-finding, diagnostics, and mechanical repairs on shaft winders
- Daily inspections and maintenance of mechanical equipment and workshop tools
- Keeping the shaft winder running safely and efficiently for ore, personnel, and material transport
- Risk assessments and compliance with SHERQ standards, safety first, always
- Capturing accurate maintenance data and reporting issues timeously
- Supporting plant and section maintenance to keep production flowing
- Participating in planning, change initiatives, and continuous improvement
- Solid mechanical fitting skills in mining environments
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, JDE, Qlickview, and Isometrix
- Basic problem-solving, assertiveness, and communication skills
- A strong sense of accountability and teamwork
Minimum requirements
Certificate: Grade 12 (Required).
Certificate: Trade Test Fitter (Required)
Code B/EB driver’s license (Required)
Relevant Winder and Ropes Training (Required)
Dover A or B symbol
3 Years post-apprenticeship Fitter experience in Winders and Ropes in mining, heavy industrial, or Plant environment.
