Operator Multi-Skilled Load Out
Position Summary
Introduction
To assist train loading processes in ensuring the efficient and effective utilisation of allocated equipment and production processes and to control movements of trains and shunting to ensure a safe and efficient train service.
Job description
• Conduct pre- and post-start checks as per check list on allocated equipment at the beginning of each shift and that it is always in good working condition.
• Conduct basic failure analysis and identify corrective action and report this to respective Shift Supervisor.
• To perform first line maintenance tasks and assist with breakdown work as instructed by the Process Controller.
• To perform cleaning duties and supervision of contract cleaning / mine staff as instructed by the Process Controller / Shift Supervisor, and ensure that work is completed accurately and according to set standards.
• Operate double / multi-class mobile load and haul TMM equipment.
• Set electrically operated points and ensure effective communication to ensure safe and effective movements of rolling stock.
• Assist the drivers during couple and uncouple of wagons and locomotives.
• Assist the drivers during shunting movements, to control the movements by authorising and controlling the drivers to stay within their authorised limits.
• Done visual inspection to ensure TFR vehicle lists correspond with actual train configuration when entering the siding and when leaving the siding.
• Ensure batteries and hand-held radios are checked at the beginning of each shift and that it is always in good working condition.
• Report equipment failure / deviations to Shift Supervisor.
• To accurately report process and equipment deviations to the Process Control.
• Ensure the accurate and effective reporting of rail and train related deviations / faults to Rail Traffic Officer
Minimum requirements
· Certificate: Grade 12 (Required)
· Valid Driver’s License: Code B / EB (Required)
· Dover A symbol (Required)
