Introduction
ASSMANG Pty Ltd requires the services of Instrumentation Technician at their Black Rock Mine Operations situated 80km North-West of Kuruman in the Northern Cape. The closing date for applications will be Tuesday, 23 April 2024.
Job description

Main Task and Responsibility: Ensure optimum availability and reliability of Instrumentation equipment and systems to ensure effective and continuously improved operations throughout BRMO.

Minimum requirements

  • Certificate: Grade 12.
  • National Diploma: N6 / S4 or T3.
  • Certificate: Trade Test Mechanician.
  • Valid Drivers Licence Code B / EB.
  • Dover B Symbol.
Experience and Requirements:
  • 5 Years Technician on maintenance operations in a process plant automated environment.

Knowledge and Skills:
  • Manage the efficient and effective utilisation of resources. Optimise systems and processes continuously to ensure production efficiency targets and operational plans are met.
  • Provide input into functional planning. Interpret functional plan and develop sub-functional plans.
  • Plan, direct, and assess Quality Management within sub-function and recommend remedial actions where necessary to ensure adherence to TQM principles.
  • Complete daily inspection checklists for tools, equipment, and work areas. Report problems and make recommendations to Supervisors.
  • Maintain, install, programming and do diagnostics and repair instrumentation equipment and power supply units and lines per planned maintenance and break down work orders.
  • Ensure equipment and tools are cleaned after use and stored in Storeroom according to labelling and BRMO standards.  Perform instructions as per work orders and job cards.
  • Ensure operational plan is implemented.
  • Plan, implement, control, and monitor approved changes to area of responsibility to respond to changes in the industry, legislation, and other related matters including transformation and optimisation.  Assist with workplace readiness assessment.
  • Promote and assure adherence to safety, health and environmental procedures. Identify unsafe and hazardous situations.
  • Diagnose incidents and accidents by completing root cause analyses and take corrective action. Conduct risk assessments. Stop work in unsafe areas.
  • Ensure safety programs are executed.
  • Identify recurring problems and derive creative solutions involving team members. Recognise and reward team member efforts.
  • Implement compliance requirements. Communicate compliance changes.
  • Calibrate, repair, and maintain control gear, instrumentation, and equipment. Perform root cause analysis and deal with SLAs.
