Job description

MAIN TASK AND RESPONSIBILITY:
  • Plan, direct and conduct mine surveys such as direction and gradient lines installation, setting out of survey points for alignment of structures, measurement of excavations, dumps, stacks and stockpiles. Survey the required infrastructure for as-built purposes; perform detailed stake out - and profiling operations. Perform extra-ordinary surveys such as check surveys and gyro surveys when required.

Minimum requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  • Certificate: Grade 12 (with Mathematics) (Required).
  • National Diploma Mine / Minerals Surveying (Required).
  • Bachelor of Mine Surveying (Recommended).
  • Advanced Mine Surveying Certificate (Required).
  • Advanced Mine Valuation Certificate (Recommended).

EXPERIENCE AND REQUIREMENTS:
  • 4 Years Mine Surveying experience.
  • 1 Year Supervisory experience.
  • Valid code B/EB driver license.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
  • Computer literate (Microsoft Office, JDE, Oracle & Isometrix).
  • Computer aided draughting (CAD), Laser scanning software and surveying calculation software for underground and surface.
  • Perform surveys including GPS, surface, check and gyro surveys, process infrastructure requirements, and perform stake-out, profiling and scanning operations when required, perform precise monitoring. Perform measuring operations using tapes, total station, laser scanners, and GPS. Perform calculations of survey data and represent this information on plans, compile reports from the surveyed and measured data. Conduct density testing/measuring operations.
  • Survey the required infrastructure such as dumps; stockpiles and other features on surface, perform surface subsidence monitoring, measure underground excavations, underground support, and geological features as required per regulations. Perform detailed stake out operations as and when required. Install survey pegs and grades, collate and input measurement data into the survey systems.
  • Measure accident and incident scenes for representation on plans. Provide survey notes and issue holing warning notifications where required. Measure and quantify surface and underground production. Visualise and conceptualise 3D drawings and layouts.
  • Provide input into sub-functional planning. Plan team activities. Drawing from own experience or vocational knowledge, identify and recommend initiatives aimed at eliminating waste, improved productivity and reduce operating costs within scope.
  • Conduct document control spot-checks. Ensure integrity of survey data and information. Perform check survey and gyro survey when required. Ensure all survey and measuring data collected is stored as required by the regulations.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS:
The candidate will be appointed on the condition of being certified medically fit as per Mine Health and Safety Act 29/1996.

Remuneration will be based on a competitive all-inclusive flexible package.
