Introduction

Manage and coordinate the engineering activities of underground plant, infrastructure and mobile machinery of all 3 shafts in accordance with legislation. Ensure effective processes, principles and best practices are implemented

Job description

•    Integrate and align change initiatives. Walk the talk and motivate others to implement change programmes. Manage change programs. Diagnose deviations and take corrective action.
•    Collate integrated scorecards for work areas, operations and business groups. Create reports. Perform trend analysis and internal audits. Develop document control systems and practices.
•    Optimise the function's core internal processes and internal supply chain and resolve functional operating conflicts.
•    Engage with subordinates once removed to encourage and recognise improvement. Approve innovations and provide the means for implementation. Implement operations effectiveness model and practice.
•    Promote and enforce a culture of statutory compliance. Evaluate negative trends and introduce remedial solutions. Communicate changes where applicable. Monitor and ensure operational adherence to regulations and standards. Ensure implementation of remedial actions.
•    Plan, direct and assess Quality Management within function and implement remedial actions where necessary to ensure adherence to TQM principles.
•    Provide input into the development of the business plan. Analyse business plans and develop functional plans.
•    Remain up to date with macro and micro-economic conditions, legislation, competition, market sentiment and the industry in general, to anticipate and plan for circumstances that may influence the development of the functional strategic plan.
•    Evaluate contractor services prior to appointment. Approve and ensure adherence to SLAs. Ensure total management of contractors in your section.
•    Lead the Engineering functions within your legal appointment in providing effective maintenance management for operational equipment and infrastructure.
•    Ensure both internal and external work(s) is optimised in terms of planned downtime and reducing unplanned downtime.
•    Ensure that designated buildings, plant and facilities are fit for purpose and to provide proactive support/solutions when required.
•    Manage systems to ensure compliance of the engineering data systems, equipment data storage and maintain high levels of standards and accuracy.
•    Ensure maintenance and operational management of all fixed Plant.
•    Optimise equipment according to standard procedure, enhancing performance and service quality, ensuring the achievement of all Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

Minimum requirements

•    Certificate: Grade 12 (Required)
•    Bachelor of Science: Engineering (Required)
•    National Diploma: N6 / S4 / T4 (Alternative)
•    Certificate: GCC Mines and Works (Required)
•    Management Development Program (Recommended/ Advantageous) 
•    Valid Driver’s Licence: Code B/EB
•    8 Years’ Section Engineer experience in a mining industry (Mechanised mine)
•    5 Years’ Managerial experience
