Introduction

ASSMANG Pty Ltd – Manganese Division requires the services of Bursars at their Black Rock Mine Operations situated 80km North-West of Kuruman in the Northern Cape. Bursaries, inclusive of tuition fees, accommodation and prescribed books, are available in the following fields of study: → Mining Engineering – (Bachelor of Technology: Mining Engineering / Advanced Diploma: Mining Engineering / Bachelor of Science: Mining Engineering) → Rock Engineering – (Bachelor of Technology: Mining Engineering or Geology or Physics / Advanced Diploma: Mining Engineering or Geology or Physics / Bachelor of Science: Mining Engineering or Geology or Physics) → Industrial Engineering – (Bachelor of Technology: Industrial Engineering / Advanced Diploma: Industrial Engineering / Bachelor of Science: Industrial Engineering / Bachelor of Engineering: Industrial Engineering) → Electrical Engineering – (Bachelor of Technology: Electrical Engineering / Advanced Diploma: Electrical Engineering / Bachelor of Science Engineering) → Mechanical Engineering – (Bachelor of Technology: Mechanical Engineering / Advanced Diploma: Mechanical Engineering /Bachelor of Science Engineering) → SHERQ – Safety Management (Bachelor of Technology: Safety Management / Advanced Diploma: Safety Management / Bachelor: Safety Management) → SHERQ – Occupational Hygiene (Bachelor of Technology: Occupational Hygiene / Advanced Diploma: Occupational Hygiene / Bachelor: Occupational Hygiene)

Job description

Bursary Applications are for candidates who are currently enrolled at a University or University of Technology within their 2nd, 3rd OR 4th year of study, studying towards the respective fields mentioned above.



Minimum requirements

Selection Criteria for University students

Students enrolled in full-time studies at a South African
University or University of Technology.
• Students studying towards a Bachelor’s Degree, Advanced
Diploma or Bachelor of Technology, within their 2nd, 3rd OR 4th
year of study.
• Applicants who are currently enrolled in a field of study specified
above.
• Sound academic record with an average B-symbol and pass mark
for all subjects, including final-year examination results plus
admission to the University.
• Preference is given to learners from a disadvantaged background
with financial constraints and in terms of the company’s
Employment Equity requirements.
• Preference is given to learners from the local community within
the Northern Cape province.
• Applicants already receiving a bursary or financial aid from
another institution will not be considered.


Documents and Application
Documents to be submitted as part of the
application:
• An updated CV and supporting documents of achievements
(including Identity document).
• Recent academic record as well as an academic record of years of
study completed thus far (where applicable) OR Matric school report
of last written November/ December examinations.
• Proof of current registration at the University or University of
Technology OR Proof of having completed Matric (Grade 12).
• Official proof of residential address.


→ Appointment notes:
• Shortlisted candidates will undergo an interview, psychometric
evaluation and medical fitness assessment as per the Mine
Health and Safety Act 29/1996.
• Shortlisted candidates will be required to authenticate
information provided in CV’s.
• Contractual obligations will be communicated upon
appointment.
