ASSMANG Pty Ltd – Manganese Division, Black Rock Mine Operations situated 80km North-West of Kuruman in the Northern Cape is offering bursary opportunities for the 2025 academic year which is inclusive of tuition fees, accommodation, laptop and prescribed books. The closing date for applications will be Thursday, 30 January 2025.

Job description

The Bursary 2025 Programme will be for the following fields of study:
 
Mining Engineering – (Bachelor of Technology: Mining Engineering / Advanced Diploma: Mining Engineering / Bachelor of Science: Mining Engineering).
 
Mechanical Engineering – (Bachelor of Technology: Mechanical Engineering / Advanced Diploma: Mechanical Engineering / Bachelor of Science Engineering).
 
Electrical Engineering Heavy Current – (Bachelor of Technology: Electrical Engineering / Advanced Diploma: Electrical Engineering / Bachelor of Science Engineering).
 
Metallurgy – BSc or BTech Degree in Metallurgy / Chemical Engineering.
 
Environmental Management - Diploma / Bachelor of Environmental Management / Science.

Minimum requirements

Selection Criteria:

1. Matriculants:

  • Must be a South African citizen between the ages of 18-35 years.
  • The minimum qualifying level for Matriculants is a Bachelor pass / University exemption in the final-year examination.
  • Preference is given to learners who have University acceptance for the new academic year 2025 within the specified fields of study mentioned.
  • Applicants already receiving a bursary or financial aid from another institution will not be considered.
2. University Students:
  • Must be a South African citizen between the ages of 18-35 years.
  • Enrolled in full-time studies at a South African University or University of Technology.
  • Applicants who are currently enrolled in a field of study specified above.
  • Sound academic record with an average B-symbol and pass mark for all subjects, including final-year examination results plus admission to the University.
4. Appointment notes:
  • Preference is given to learners from a disadvantaged background in the local communities within the John Taolo Gaetsewe District Municipality and persons living with disability.
  • Shortlisted candidates will undergo an interview and psychometric evaluation.
  • Shortlisted candidates will be required to authenticate information provided in CV’s.
  • Contractual obligations will be communicated upon appointment.
5. Documents to be submitted as part of the application:
  • An updated CV.
  • Recent academic record as well as an academic record of years of study completed thus far (where applicable) OR
  • Matric school report of last written November/ December examinations.
  • Proof of current registration at the University or University of Technology OR Proof of having completed Matric (Grade 12).
  • Certified copy of South African ID
  • Proof of residential address.
