Engineering Supervisor – UG BEV Equipment
Position Summary
Introduction
Ensure the availability, reliability, and safe operation of Underground Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) equipment by applying integrated mechanical and electrical maintenance management systems, including battery systems and charging infrastructure, to meet production targets. Monitor maintenance execution, contractor performance, and evaluate outcomes against reliability and safety standards.
Job description
• Ensure availability, health, and readiness of BEV batteries in line with production requirements. Monitor and manage BaaS contractor performance against SLA.
• Ensure uptime and safe operation of charging stations and associated electrical infrastructure.
• Coordinate and supervise safe battery change-outs during shift. Ensure adherence to standard procedures for lifting, handling, and connection/disconnection. Manage charging schedules to optimise fleet availability and battery life. Ensure workshop attendants and crane operators execute tasks safely and efficiently.
• Coordinate maintenance, statutory inspections and audits by internal and external service providers.
• Supervise and inspect sub-ordinates daily activities, offer coaching and on the job training to ensure maintenance according to organisational standards.
• Implement team operational plans to ensure defined objectives are met through supporting and being supported by other teams within and linked to department.

• Comply with Quality standards and deliver in a manner that support and meet operational quality standards.
• Comply with safety, health and environmental standards. Identify and report unsafe and hazardous situations in work area. Conduct safety meetings. Enforce team adherence to standards. Apply specific controls for: high-voltage isolation and verification; battery handling risks (thermal, mechanical, electrical); lifting operations and crane coordination for battery swaps.
• Comply with disciplinary and behavioural rules and procedures.
• Propose ideas or practical improvements relevant to tasks. Participate in improvement initiatives and lead group discussions to solve problems.
• Obtain information, check for accuracy and capture data. File documents per procedure.
• Participate in change initiatives and provide feedback on resistance.
Minimum requirements
• Certificate: Trade Test Artisan (Mechanical or Electrical or Auto-Electrical)
• Certificate: N3 Engineering Studies
• Valid Code B / EB Drivers Licence
• Dover B Symbol
