Introduction

ASSMANG Pty Ltd is seeking a highly skilled, motivated and dedicated individuals who would like to be part of this exciting mine and who would like to make use of this unique opportunity to grow and develop within the company to apply for the position at our Black Rock Mine Operations, situated 80km North-West of Kuruman in the Northern Cape. Prevent and minimise accidents, dangerous occurrences and non-conformances in respect of safety and health standards. Ensure Black Rock is always compliant.

Job description

•    Ensure operational plan is implemented.
•    Inspect designated work areas, record in log book and report to Management for corrective action. 
•    Complete and update and keep record of all documentation with regards to findings and compliance. 
•    Conduct 30- and 90-day legal inspections in accordance with High-Risk Priority areas as identified through the BLRA, IBRA, Incidents, trends, Dangerous Occurrences, High Potential Incidents, 
•    Conduct regular inspections on All DMR actions/issues/instructions issued within your area of responsibility _ ensure that you include DMR actions/issues/instructions relevant to your area of responsibility but were issued to other areas on BRMO and surrounding Mines. 
•    Manage Contractor risk classification matrix in area of responsibility.
•    Facilitate investigations of all accidents Property Damages on site with the identified team.
•    Initiate necessary risk assessments identified from over inspections of inspections and property damages and audits.
•    Produce actions plans in consultation with line and communicate to stakeholders for endorsement.
•    Submit a monthly report on all property damages in your area of responsibility to the Chief Safety and Risk Officer, the report must include actions / recommendations by ER/IR.
•    Identify user needs and potential improvement in SHERQ Systems and procedures, develop proposals and communicate to Mining and SHERQ Department.
•    Ensures SHERQ compliance through adherence to Health & Safety standards in the work environment. Ensures that Khumani operations act in accordance with Mine Health Safety Act.
•    Adhere to SHERQ and legal standards and procedures and assist Line Management in the improvement thereof.

Minimum requirements

•    Grade 12.
•    National Diploma Safety Management (NQF Level 6).
•    Diploma SAMTRAC or COMSOC 1 and 2.
•    Dover B Symbol.
•    Certificate: ISO 31000 / 45001 / 9000 / 9001 (Advantageous).
•    Valid Code B Driver’s License.
•    3 Years Safety or SHERQ Officer Experience in a Mining or Engineering Environment or Contractor Management.
•    2 Years Risk Assessment Experience in a Mining or Engineering Environment or Contractor Management.
•    6 Months SHERQ Auditing Experience.
•    6 Months Investigations Experience.
